THE BEGINNING

Kristin and Craig met in Washington, DC while both working for an agricultural trade association.  They fell in love and were married in the U.S. in 2015.  In 2020, they decided to move to Craig’s hometown of Bowmanville, ON so that Craig could help run the day-to-day operations of his family’s farm.

FLOWER DREAMS, REALIZED

Kristin has dreamed of growing cut flowers for many years. She spent 10+ years working in Washington, DC and had a small, but successful, cut flower garden in her backyard.   With the move to Ontario, she finally had enough land/space (and time) to build Meadowlark.

Soon after the move, she met a new friend, Gillian, who has strong ties to the Durham agricultural community (and a shared love of flowers!).

Kristin and Gillian are now building Meadowlark together!

MEADOWLARK’S MISSION

MEADOWLARK’S MISSION WILL BE TO:

  • Grow high quality flowers that highlight the beauty and importance of local agriculture and local floriculture.

  • Become a leader in the “local flowers” movement in the community of Clarington.

  • Share these flowers with the Clarington community as widely as possible (through sales and donations) while creating a revenue stream for family.

  • Foster a sense of community through an in-person and virtual gathering place for residents to learn about local flowers.
